Living in Poole
Poole boasts a bustling Quay, some of the best beaches, a stunning natural harbour, several yacht clubs, The Dolphin shopping Centre, a variety of pubs and restaurants, multiplex cinema at Tower Park and first class schools. The town has a cross channel ferry port with excellent road, rail links, and is only a short distance from Bournemouth International Airport. Poole is only a short distance from the nearby town of Bournemouth, the unspoilt countryside of rural Dorset and the ancient New Forest. There is a strong economy with a diverse mix of small and medium-sized companies, and the head offices for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Sunseeker International and large offices for Barclays Bank, Siemens, and American Express. Expanding sectors include marine, tourism and leisure, advanced manufacturing, engineering and creative industries making the town a top choice on the South Coast.
With the largest natural harbour in Europe and award winning beaches, there is entertainment galore on Poole Quay and Sandbanks that starts in May and carries on until September with live music, beach sports and much more. However, there are great bars and restaurants to be enjoyed all year round, with more entertainment available in nearby Bournemouth.
Poole Hosts some excellent public and private fitness, swimming, tennis, and golf centres. Sailing, windsurfing, and many other open water sports are very well served or you only need to go a short drive inland for equestrian based activities. Indoor sports such as ten pin bowling are available at several venues around the area.
Poole has a prosperous town centre with quirky boutiques through to big name shops, including the Dolphin Shopping Centre, the largest undercover shopping centre in Dorset.
Poole has excellent road and rail links with London being approximately 100 minutes and Southampton 30 minutes away by train. There is are regular cross-channel sailings and Bournemouth International Airport offers convenient and affordable flights to numerous worldwide destinations.
