Allan & Bath support TeamMAX’s fundraising efforts for research into epilepsy

 Support TeamMAX
Allan & Bath - Dorset’s longest established letting specialists - are delighted to be lending their wholehearted support to local fundraising group TeamMAX.
TeamMAX came together following the tragic death of 22 month old Max Miller Prior in June 2011. Max had a genetic epilepsy and passed away in his sleep due to an unexplained effect on his nervous system known as Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
Max’s mum, Gail, formed TeamMAX with family, friends and colleagues to commemorate Max’s life. The fundraising group aims to raise as much money as possible for a research grant into difficult to control epilepsy in children and SUDEP and to help Poole General Hospital’s Children’s Unit to secure an epilepsy specialist nurse. They also want to create greater awareness of epilepsy in general.
Epilepsy is the most serious common neurological condition. It affects around one person in 131 and there is no cure for it. Over 2000 children in Dorset alone have a type of epilepsy, and over 5000 adults. Worldwide, epilepsy affects 3% of the population and in the UK more than 600,000 people live with epilepsy day to day. In rare cases, epilepsy can cause sudden, unexplained death (SUDEP) which kills 500 people in the UK every year.
Says Gail: “It is vital that more research is carried out into epilepsy to help understand why it occurs in its different forms, to improve treatments & medicines and to discover a cure.  We, as TeamMAX, have initiated a huge fundraising effort to help reach our target of £35,000 to provide Epilepsy Action with a research grant into difficult to control epilepsy in children and SUDEP.
“We have lots of fun fundraising events scheduled over the coming months which we would like as many people as possible to come along to and support. Allan & Bath will be helping us to promote all our future fundraising events by designing and printing marketing materials for us and helping us with publicity.  They will also be displaying our TeamMAX logo in their advertising and on their website and we are very grateful for their invaluable support.”
The next TeamMAX event is a Family Fun Day entitled ‘'Once Upon a Time...' being held from 11.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday 4th March at the Sandbanks Hotel in Poole, in conjunction with World Book Day. There will be fun and games for all the family, children's entertainment and storytelling - children can come dressed as their favourite book character. Tickets are £3.50 per person and must be booked in advance from the Sandbanks Hotel, Poole – 0845 3371550, quoting TeamMAX.
Following that will be a Ladies Evening on Friday 23rd March at the Community & Learning Centre in Wimborne, an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday,7th April; ‘Quiz, Quackers & Cheese’ on Saturday, 14th April; a Golf Day hosted by Dr. Mark Bridgman at the Canford Magna Parkland Course on Friday, 27th April and Max’s Marvellous Zumbathon, date to be confirmed in June.
